Illustrations
Below are a variety of different illustration projects I have created, and they will be provided with a short description of what the project was about. Most of these illustrations I created were first drawn in a drawing software called Clip Studio Paint and then imported into Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop for refinements and coloring.
Our Little Universe - Black and White Illustration
This project was to show our universe in a cartoon illustrated way, showing our world from way up in space to the air, the land, and the sea. My design concept was to create these arches to depict little scenes within these different environments and add cute little animal characters that you would typically see in these environments! Yes, I know monkeys don't live in space, but they have been sent to space in the past, and I wanted this to all be animal-themed with the characters I designed. All in all, I wanted the whole art piece to have multiple textures and patterns to relate to these environments as well. In addition to this illustration, I put a mockup of my design printed
onto a face mask.
Wandavision Movie Poster - Stainglass Style
For the assignment of this project, we had to create a movie poster to look like stained glass. The movie poster I decided to recreate was of the Disney Plus series WandaVision. After watching the entire show,
I designed my movie poster depicting the main characters and important scenes throughout the show (as you can see in the little television illustrations). Since the show's first few episodes are in black and white and the series slowly transitions into color due to
the time period changing during the show, I wanted that to be the main focal point of this poster showing that color transition. I kept the faces of the characters minimalistic to give the audience a sense of mystery and typically most stained-glass pieces with people have very minimal facial details. To create the stained-glass effect, I put an image within each space and disorienting the picture with different motion blur effects in Photoshop to create different textures throughout the art piece and changing the Hue/Saturations of the images into different colors.
Fish Tank - Video Game Background Illustration
This illustration project was to create an environment into a cartoon scene as if it would be used for a video game background. I pictured this video game to be more for children where it's like a Tamagotchi type game where the gamer has to raise their fish in this fish tank scene by taking care of them, adding different props/decor inside the fish tank, etc. All of the textures and illustrations were created in Adobe Illustrator.
E is for Ernest - Gashlycrumb Tinies Stories Illustration
This illustration project was to take the Gashlycrumb Tinies stories and create our interpretation what how we would picture that scene. The Gashlycrumb Tinies is an alphabet book written by Edward Gorey, first published
in 1963. The book tells the tale of 26 children and their untimely deaths in rhyme. Mine was on "E is for Ernest who Choked on Peach." I wanted to depict the moment before Ernest is about to eat the peach and give the peach some character by giving him a sinister look since he knows he is about the choke Ernest once eaten. The style I chose for the illustration was to stack multiple layers of different textured paper to make it look like it was all scrapbooked together rather than designed digitally in Photoshop.
Sunburn - Character Design for CDC Illnesses
In this project, I was assigned to pick a CDC Illness on the CDC Website and create my character to replicate that illness. The target audience would be mainly children or young adults to give them a sense of urgency about
these illnesses, but in a way keeping it innocent by creating a character to represent this illness. I chose Sunburn for my project, and I wanted my character to be depicted as a villain since he is trying to avoid you from using sunscreen so he can burn you. The story of my sunburn character was also written by myself to help inform the children how sunburns can be quite dangerous.
